Fitness fanatics and casual athletes gathered at Austin City Hall Wednesday. They’re encouraging people to track their physical activity in April and collectively run and walk a million miles to beat heart disease.
“Million Mile Month is about fighting that problem, that issue, in a fun way,” said Will Lindow, Director of Operations for Million Mile Month. “So it’s not kind of lecturing; it’s more about getting out there, getting active, having fun with your community and friends and family.”
Just hours after the nationwide campaign began, Texas is topping the state leaderboard with more than 2,000 miles. Austin is currently the leading city in the nation.
