Frequently Asked Questions

Who is HealthCode?

HealthCode® is a 501c3 nonprofit, whose mission is to empower people to live healthier, happier lives, free from preventable diseases.

HealthCode supports people and communities – locally and globally – by raising awareness, educating, and engaging people year-round; through community-focused, goal-based challenges, and programs.

HealthCode focuses on physical activity, nutrition, the environment, and community connections through virtual activity programs like iResolve.™, Million Mile Month™, Triathlon in a Month™, and Marathon in a Month™; plus Green Ribbon Schools® and Healthivores™ to support schools and engage kids in STEM skills and life-long success.

Is there a fee?

HealthCode does not charge a fee, anyone can participate at no charge. There is an opportunity at registration to make a tax deductible donation. Contributions allow HealthCode to provide programs free, especially to low income communities and schools. HealthCode is set up similar to PBS or NPR in that anyone can participate for free due to contributions from participants, donors, sponsors and grants. If you are interested in donations and/or sponsorships we would love to hear from you – contact@healthcode.org.

How do I register?

Registration is quick and easy. You can register by clicking here.

If you’ve participated in a past, Million Mile Month or Marathon in a Month event, use your existing login information (email and password) to register/Opt-In to new events.

How does it work?

  1. Register any time, from at least a month prior to and even during each Event. (You can even go back and enter your activity data from the 1st of that month no matter when you register during the event.)
  2. Establish YOUR personal activity mileage goal.
  3. Complete the activity of YOUR choice at the pace best for YOU; such as: run, walk, bike, yoga, dance… whatever you like. If you are participating in team sports, feel free to enter your activity based on the level of exertion using walking or running.
  4. Log your miles or minutes, which will be applied toward your goals and the overall community. You can even sync to your activity tracker such as Fitbit or MapMyFitness through your Personal Profile page. However, a wearable device is not required as you can enter activity on your Personal Profile page.

Enjoy checking out the Public Leaderboard (located at the top of the home page). If you are part of a participating Organization, see your own Organization’s private leaderboard from your Personal Profile page.

Can I participate in a HealthCode monthly event even if I start after the 1st of the month for that event?

You bet. HealthCode’s activity data entry tool on your Personal Profile page allows you to go back and enter data. So you can start any time during the month with no penalty. You just can not enter data for an activity you “expect” to do tomorrow.

FYI, if you have a fitness tracker like FitBit or MapMyFitness you can sync your activity data up through the link on your Personal Profile page.

Where do the events take place?

Anywhere! Walk around the block, run on a treadmill, ride with a cycling team, do yoga during your lunch break. All your miles count, 24/7, on your schedule, at your own level of physical ability. Just have fun and take it up a notch.

If I’m already participating in a race, office fitness program, other health challenge, etc. can I count those miles?

Yes. No matter when, where or how you complete your miles… we just want you to be inspired to get active! Whether you are walking to school, biking to work, running at the gym or participating in a race or walkathon…log those miles.

Can I get my organization involved in an event to encourage fellow employees in worksite wellness?

Absolutely! In fact, more than half of the iResolve./MMM/TiaM/MiaM participates come through their organization.

Share this link with your HR/wellness lead to see the 2-minute video, it’s really that easy. They can sign up your Organization (IT’S FREE) by just filling out the form.

We have made it quick and easy for wellness leaders to implement the programs across your organization. Plus we provide access to a participation data report (number of participants, miles completed, minutes logged, calories burned, projected health care cost savings for your company and more).

HealthCode’s programs are structured to take the workload off of HR/wellness leads and put it on us. We have an easy to follow MMM Implementation Guide, TiaM Implementation Guide, and MiaM Implementation Guide that will walk you through the simple steps to engage your employees in this fun challenge; including email templates, marketing assets, detailed reports and one-on-one support.

Do I, or my organization, have to participate in all of HealthCode’s activity events?

It’s up to you! Join as many as you like!

How do you win prizes?

First, the real prize is your own health; plus the health and wellness of your family, friends, colleagues, and community.

During April’s Million Mile Month when the HealthCode Community reaches certain milestones on the way to 1 million miles (25k, 100k, 500k miles) we award prizes. Everyone has an equal chance to win, whether you log 10 miles a week or 10 miles a day!

During Marathon in a Month there are random drawings throughout the month.

If your Organization is interested in providing prizes please contact us contact@healthcode.org.

Who benefits from HealthCodes programs?

First, of course, is YOU!

By participating you can:

  • Reduce your risk of preventable diseases (heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers) and increase your overall health through other challenges and year-round tips delivered through our newsletters and social media.
  • Win awesome prizes (bikes, gift cards, fit trackers, and more) just for logging miles.
  • Get recognized for your hard work on public Leaderboards (click on Leaderboards at the top of the page).
  • Stay Connected year-round to become a Fitness Millionaire

Second, you are supporting the health and wellness of your friends, family, and community.

Is my donation to HealthCode tax deductible?

Yes, your tax-deductible amount will be reflected in the receipt emailed to you after your registration is complete. Please consider submitting your donation for a match through your employer if they offer that option. Our nonprofit name is HealthCode and our EIN is: 27-1310367.

When will I receive my tax-deductible receipt?

When you complete the registration process, you will receive a receipt via email which includes the information you need for your tax records.

Can I host an event in my community?

Of course! Our motto is, “the more the merrier.” Get your co-workers, your church group, your neighborhood, and/or your friends together and host get-togethers with the goal of getting active and achieving miles together. This is a perfect chance to meet new people and explore the endless amounts of hike and bike trails, parks, and all the great outdoor/indoor activity spaces in your area. Email us at contact@healthcode.org to set up your company, organization, or team.

How else can I get involved?

HealthCode is always looking for enthusiastic volunteers and support. Just a few of the many opportunities available for volunteers are:

  • Informing Worksite HR, Wellness Leads, CFO’s and CEO’s
  • Sponsorship Support
  • Prize Items
  • Registration Swag Bag Fulfillment
  • Web Development
  • Trainers/Fitness Professionals for various opportunities
  • Mobile App Development
  • Kickoff Event Support (multiple needs)
  • HealthCode Young Business Team membership
  • Street Team/Company Evangelist
  • Video Production and Photography
  • Grant Writing
  • College/Pro Athlete and Celebrity (endorsement, content, participation)
  • And more…

To get more involved, volunteer or just find out how you can join our team, email us at: contact@healthcode.org.

Are there age restrictions on who can participate?

We want EVERYONE to participate and have fun doing it. Grab the kids, your grandma, and your dog, and get outside. Right now we can only log human miles, but believe me, your pooch will love the extra outdoor time with his/her favorite human.

Participants age 12 and under are required to have parent permission to use the website. It has been wonderful to see families, schools, and organizations use HealthCode’s programs to engage children in life-long healthy habits.

How does my donation help?

Your donation helps us continue to keep the program free. Our focus is on helping everybody with their health journey, especially those in low-income groups. We believe that health should be accessible, and your donation helps others with their journey.
